The Legend

This popular destination offers a perfect blend of fun and community spirit during the cold months. A highlight of the winter season is the Cardboard Classic Annual Sledding contest. This exciting event draws participants who craft sleds from corrugated cardboard, competing for prizes in categories like speed and most creative design. The contest, usually held in January or February, is a testament to the inventive spirit and camaraderie of Albion’s residents.
This picturesque scene is part of the “Albion River of Time” mural, a 56-foot-long artwork situated in the drive-thru of the former Huntington Bank in downtown Albion. The mural vividly captures the essence of Albion throughout the four seasons, showcasing the town’s iconic river, brick streets, river trail, and parks. Among the winter activities depicted, one can spot Albion’s famous black squirrels, busy digging up nuts they stored in the fall. This vibrant and lively portrayal of winter fun adds to the charm of this unique and historical piece of art.
