This unique three-sided bridge is a symbol of the effort to bring diverse groups together. Located in Midland, Michigan, the Tridge spans the meeting point of the Tittabawassee and Chippewa Rivers. Since its opening in 1981, it has become both a literal and symbolic crossroads for the community.

Each of the Tridge’s three 180-foot arms reaches out from a central pillar standing 31 feet high, connecting Chippewassee Park, St. Charles Park, and the Farmers Market area. While it was designed as a pedestrian bridge, it also welcomes bicycles, skateboards, and inline skates—making it a favorite for all kinds of visitors.

The Tridge marks the beginning of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail, as well as the Chippewa Nature Trail, offering access to over 35 acres of parkland. Its construction inspired nearby civic improvements, including the popular Sprayground, generously funded by the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation. That same foundation provided a $2.5 million grant for its 2017 renovation.

Beloved by residents and visitors alike, the Tridge is more than a bridge. It’s a meeting place, a photo spot, and a proud emblem of Midland’s ongoing commitment to unity and community spirit.
